Yesterday I was grateful for...

Yesterday - which completely got away from me
500 Cupcakes book - includes 6 different zucchini muffin recipes
Google - where I can quickly learn the difference between frogs & toads
The toad in my parsley - for burrowing backwards into the herb pot because it is very cute
Reasonable expectations - so I don't have to crash when everything isn't perfect
My washer & dryer - because I know they will be there today, too
My monkey & my man - ditto

Today I am grateful for...

The Fishtank Theater - for tonight's charming performance of L'Histoire D'Amour and such a fun concept in general
Coffee - and places like YJ's that serve it all night long
Yoga - because it still takes care of me even when I haven't kept in touch for a couple weeks
A&WT - for the very same reason, except they also offer apples, crackers and bacon cheese
Weekends - when I can read, cook, work in the yard, take a nap, see a show and wander aimlessly, all in one day
Cramps - without them, I may have felt guilty about the aforementioned nap
KCUR - where I get my NPR every day and my Fish Fry on Friday & Saturday nights
My new neighborhood - it's clean and safe and cute and feels like home, plus we have block parties!

Today I am grateful for...

Zombie Movies -not only because they are fun, but they provide us with valuable life skills
Garage Door Openers - for the abundance of rainy days we seem to be having lately
Balance - whether I have it or not, it's just good to know it's out there and potentially attainable
Boys - to keep me on my toes
Girls - to remind me I am not insane
Cupcakes - they are pretty and yummy and make me feel special
Pop Tarts - to get us through life until the next cupcake
Black Pepper Pistachios - for when I have PMS and require something savory immediately following a package of Pop Tarts
The Successes of Loved Ones - let me experience joy and exhilaration that is in no way self-serving
My J.O.B. - for the first time, I feel incredibly fortunate to have the one I do

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Curry Chicken Salad from the Blue Moose in Prairie Village - served with fresh fruit (the good stuff...no melon)
My monkey - she is really the coolest person I know
My home - not only do I have one, with closets, no less, but it is cute cute cute
My mom - probably the second coolest person I know but she's humble so she disguises it with extreme dorkiness and excessive chatter
Free performing arts opportunities - we are fortunate to have so much going on in our little town and I love that being broke is never a good enough excuse to not get out there and do something (subscribe to ArtsKC e-news or The Pitch Insider, for starters)
Do-Overs - first day of the rest of your life and all
Cable TV - when I just need Goodfellas to be on
Rain - flowers live and my hair products get reactivated
Powerlessness - it's such a relief to not be in charge of some stuff
